Is an ISP (internet service provider) outage happening?

ISP performance issues such as blackouts, brownouts, and increased latency can affect a user's ZDX score. Detection (or estimation) helps organizations with business value across planning, budgeting, and choosing ISPs, which could save millions of dollars in costs and revenue.

  • Is there an ISP incident going on? Which users is it affecting and in what region?
  • When did it start, and when did it end?
  • What is the probability that a user connecting to a particular ISP sees a problem?
  • Which service(s) does this ISP downtime affect?

Detecting (or estimating) the extent of an ISP outage is a challenge due to the complexity of the underlying network architecture involving infrastructure from many organizations including last-mile internet and backbone providers.

ZDX ISP Insights uses ZDX telemetry (Web Probe, Cloud Path metrics) from millions of devices across the globe to detect internet blackouts and brownouts to compute their impact/severity.
